Robert Durst has been charged with the murder of his wife Kathie Durst in 1982.
THR reports that authorities confirmed the news on Friday (October 22).
Kathie was 29 at the time of her disappearance on January 31, 1982. Her body was never recovered, and her family requested that she be declared legally dead in 2017.

“The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office can confirm that a complaint charging Robert Durst with the murder of Kathleen Durst was filed in Lewisboro Town Court on October 19, 2021. We have no further comment at this time,” the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Robert divorced Kathie in 1990, citing abandonment. Despite several efforts over the years to close the case, he was never charged with her disappearance.
Earlier this month, he was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Susan Berman. She was found dead in her home in December 2000 and Los Angeles County prosecutors sought to prove that he killed her because she knew something about Kathy‘s death.
The first-degree murder conviction and sentencing come more than six years after he arguably confessed to murdering both women on a hot mic during the filming of the documentary, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.
In the documentary, he can be heard muttering: “You’re caught… what the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.” He claims he was high on meth when he made the confession.
