Peter Scolari has sadly passed away at the age of 66.
The acclaimed actor died on Friday morning (October 22) after a two-year battle with cancer, according to Deadline.
Peter was best known for starring alongside Tom Hanks on the comedy series Bosom Buddies and in the comedy Newhart. He recently won an Emmy Award for playing the father of Lena Dunham‘s character in the HBO series Girls and most recently starred as Bishop Thomas Marx on the CBS series Evil.
In addition to his screen appearances, Peter was a prolific stage actor, having appeared on Broadway in such shows as Wicked, Hairspray, Sly Fox, and Lucky Guy.
