The Second 'Downton Abbey' Movie Has a New Release Date

A second Downton Abbey movie is currently in the works and Focus Features has announced a new release date for the film.

The movie was previously dated for a Christmas 2021 release, but now it has been pushed back to 2022.

All of the original principal cast members have returned for the next movie and new cast additions include Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West.

Downton Abbey 2 will now be released on March 18, 2022, according to Deadline. The TV show’s creator Julian Fellowes is writing the screenplay and the movie will be directed by My Week with Marilyn‘s Simon Curtis.

The first movie was a big box office success, grossing $96.9 million at the domestic box office and $237.9 million worldwide.

Years after his controversial exit from the show, Dan Stevens is opening up about why he left the series.
