Dominique Moceanu is sending support to Simone Biles, and reflecting on her own Olympic journey.
The 39-year-old former gold medal-winning Olympian posted a clip of an injury she sustained while competing in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics to support the 24-year-old star on Tuesday (July 28) following her decision to withdraw from competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“I was 14 y/o w/ a tibial stress fracture, left alone w/ no cervical spine exam after this fall. I competed in the Olympic floor final minutes later,” she wrote on Twitter.
“@Simone_Biles 🤍 decision demonstrates that we have a say in our own health — ‘a say’ I NEVER felt I had as an Olympian.”
“I’m certain you noticed the sharp contrast between Marta‘s [the disgraced former coach Marta Karoyli] reaction to her athlete (me) and Cecile‘s [current Team USA coach] reaction to her athlete (Simone),” she added in response to someone.
“In our sport, we essentially dive into a pool w/ no water. When you lose your ability to find the ground—which appears to be part of @Simone_Biles decision—-the consequences can be catastrophic.”
