Cynthia Erivo Pays Tribute to Her Favorite Female Artists During Hollywood Bowl Debut

Cynthia Erivo lit up the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday night (July 30) for her debut show at the famed L.A. venue!

The Emmy-winning, Grammy-winning, and Tony-winning entertainer paid tribute to her favorite female artists during her show with the L.A. Philharmonic.

The orchestra kicked off the show with the overture from the musical Funny Girl and Cynthia segued into “Don’t Rain on My Parade” for her first song of the night. Throughout the evening, she performed the music of such greats as Aretha Franklin, Annie Lennox, Mary J. Blige, and Roberta Flack.

The only song that Cynthia performed that was not by a female artist was Sting‘s “Fragile,” which she performed because she wanted to “touch on the year or two that we’ve been through.”

Among the stars in the audience were Lena Waithe, Matthew Morrison and his wife Renee, Amanda Kloots, John Barrowman, and more. At the end of the night, Lena hopped on stage to deliver a bouquet of flowers to Cynthia during the final bows.
