'Arcane' Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix - Everything We Know So Far!

Arcane is coming back!

The animated Riot Games series, based on League of Legends lore, is getting a second season, Deadline reported.

Here’s what we know…

Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell and Katie Leung are set to reprise their roles in the sophomore season as Vi, Jinx and Caitlyn Kiramman, respectively.

The season is already in production.

“We’re beyond happy about the positive response to Arcane‘s first season and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second installment,” said co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee.

Arcane follows two sisters, Vi (Steinfeld) and Powder (Purnell), who find themselves on opposite sides of a conflict between the rich city of Piltover and its poor undercity Zaun. Separated as children, Powder grows up into Silco’s (Jason Spisak) protegee Jinx, while Vi is presumed dead for years until an enforcer named Caitlyn (Leung) frees her from prison in exchange for her help. At the same time, tensions continue to rise between Piltover’s council members as they debate the best course of action to control the production and use of Hextech.

“Where’s a Hexgate when you need one?” a short teaser for Season 2 reads. It also includes a ticking noise, which some fans believe belongs to the character Warwick, who has not been introduced yet. Some fans also theorize that Warwick will be the revived Vander (JB Blanc).

It is likely that the season will also dive deeper into Mel Medara’s past (Toks Olagundoye), and her relationship with Jayce (Kevin Alejandro), as well as her mother (Ellen Thomas).

There is no release date set yet, but seeing as the show is already in production, it is possible to expect a late 2022 or early 2023 debut.

The show received almost universal acclaim upon its debut – see the reviews!
