Mj Rodriguez made Emmy history recently when she became the first trans actress to receive a nomination in the lead acting categories.
The 30-year-old Pose actress opened up about the nomination while appearing at the Television Academy’s Reception to Honor 73rd Emmy Award Nominees held at Television Academy on Friday night (September 17) in Los Angeles.
“Yes, it’s historic. It’s a moment that I think I’ll never forget and I’m glad that people in my life can come and celebrate this moment with me. It’s big,” Mj told Variety on the red carpet.
Mj added, “I do have a speech written just in case.”
She also said, “I am testimony that it is possible. There’s no excuses. The door is wide open and you can run right through it. There’s no crack. There’s no slipping in.”
Mj is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Blanca Rodriguez.
