Taylor Swift's 'Red' Re-Recording Will Include Emotional Track 'Ronan' - Listen Here!

In June, Taylor Swift confirmed that the next album she plans on re-recording and releasing is 2012′s Red and told fans that they would finally get to hear “all 30 songs” that were supposed to go on the record.

Billboard reports that one of those 30 songs will be “Ronan,” an emotional song Taylor wrote about a four-year-old boy’s fatal battle with cancer.

The song was inspired by Ronan Thompson, who sadly passed away from neuroblastoma in May 2011 just before he turned four. His mom Maya Thompson documented his life on her blog, Rockstar Ronan.

Taylor originally released the song on iTunes and performed the song for 2012′s Stand Up to Cancer telethon.

Maya Thompson revealed in a blog post that she had received an email from the singer asking if it would be possible to include the track on the updated version of Red.

Taylor wrote, “I’ve recently completed the re-recording of my 4th album, Red. It’s really exceeded my expectations in so many ways, and one of those ways is that I thought it would be appropriate to add ‘Ronan’ to this album. Red was an album of heartbreak and healing, of rage and rawness, of tragedy and trauma, and of the loss of an imagined future alongside someone. I wrote ‘Ronan’ while I was making Red and discovered your story as you so honestly and devastatingly told it. My genuine hope is that you’ll agree with me that this song should be included on this album. As my co-writer and the rightful owner of this story in its entirety, your opinion and approval of this idea really matters to me, and I’ll honour your wishes here.”

“It took me an hour to absorb the words in front of me…I cried while sharing the news,” Maya said.

Red (Taylor’s Version) is set to be released on November 19 and it’s rumored one of the other tracks on the album will be a 10-minute version of the fan-favorite “All Too Well.”
