First Lady Jill Biden Attends Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony

Dr. Jill Biden is enjoying the Games!

The 70-year-old First Lady was in attendance during the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday (July 23) at National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

She was seen wearing a blue mask and black-and-white polka dot dress and joining a handful of world leaders at the stadium, which was closed to the public, amid the pandemic.

The visit also marked her first solo international trip as the First Lady.

French President Emmanuel Macron was also there, as well Japan’s Emperor Naruhito.

The opening ceremony included elaborate fireworks and choreography, as well as a moment of silence for those that we lost due to COVID.

Jill Biden also had a virtual meeting with members of Team USA to congratulate them, as well as meeting with Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace. She is also due to host an Olympics watch party at the U.S. Embassy for staff and families on Saturday (July 24) before heading back home.

Team USA’s gymnastics team was not in attendance at the opening ceremony – find out why.
