The clip opens with Charles (Joe Lo Truglia) and Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) discussing the end of their partnership.

“I’m scared that my time with you will be cut short,” Charles tells Jake. “No more stakeouts or drinks after a long shift, or midnight calls when you’ve had a breakthrough in a case. I’ve always had this image of us in our nineties, hunting down criminals at the retirement home… But I guess that was just a dumb fantasy.”

The trailer then shows all the hilarious schemes the crew gets up to, from daycare shenanigans to handling a group of Hictchcocks and Scullys.

Andy Samberg said in an interview last fall that the new season would find the show’s characters trying to navigate their roles in the world.

“The challenge is going to be being honest about what is going on in the world and not shying away from the fact that there are serious problems and also not punishing viewers who like our show and care about our characters,” he explained, adding that the show would not shy away from police brutality storylines.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine premieres August 12 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, with episodes airing back-to-back each Thursday.
