Rege‘s first movie after Bridgerton, was The Gray Man, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.
“It’s been incredible,” he told the trade paper of joining the movie. “It’s just so much fun when you’re working with folks who are not just at the top of their game, but reinventing the game. It’s like a whole new machine.”
Anthony added that he and brother Joe reached out to him shortly after Bridgerton‘s Christmas Day debut.
“[Joe and I] like actors who are willing to continually reinvent themselves, and push themselves into new places,” he says. “With RegĂ©, we knew him as one specific thing over a short period of time, but he’s an incredibly talented actor, and he can move in a lot of different directions as a performer.”
The next movie he signed up for was Dungeons & Dragons, directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.
Although, Rege admitted that he wasn’t much of a “D&D” player.
“I’ve listened to a couple of ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ podcasts in my time. I played a ton of JRPGs [Japanese role-playing games] and basically everything that’s come out of it,” he explains. “I played a ton of ‘Diablo’ as a teenager, so I’m used to the fact that I play a paladin — that’s just what I do, and I know what that means, to a degree. I watched my friends play ‘Baldur’s Gate,’ so I’m like a second-generation ‘Dungeons and Dragoner.’”
However, he’s picked up a few things thanks to his friends who gave him a crash course in the world. “There is nowhere better or bigger to learn new worlds from than ‘D&D,’” Rege added.
“The role] allows him to show a full spectrum of his talent,” Jonathan said of Rege‘s secret role in the movie.
Adds John, “He naturally exudes a sense of dignity and heroism that is fitting for the fantasy genre, and is perfect for the role we cast him in.”
Just recently, Rege opened up about the possibilities of him taking on the role of James Bond next. Here’s what he said…
