Joe Lara has tragically died in a plane crash.
The Tarzan: The Epic Adventures actor, his wife Gwen Shamblin-Lara, and five other people were killed in a plane crash over the weekend, TMZ reports. Joe was 58-years-old.
According to reports, the private jet – a Cessna 501 – took off Saturday night (May 29) from Smyrna Airport, just outside of Nashville, Tenn. and was heading to Palm Beach, Fla.
The plane then somehow crashed into Percy Priest Lake in Tenn. shortly after takeoff.
After an all-night search, authorities reported on Sunday (May 30) that the passengers were found dead. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the crash.
Joe and Gwen were with members of their church on the plane when it crashed.
Joe is best known for playing Tarzan in the TV show Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, which ran from 1996 until 2000. He also appeared in other projects, including Steel Frontier, Sunset Heat, Gunsmoke: The Last Apache, and Baywatch.
Joe and Gwen – a 66-year-old controversial diet guru and founder of the Remnant Fellowship Church – married in 2018.
Our thoughts are with the victims’ loved ones during this difficult time.
We have sadly lost all of these stars in 2021.
