Kim Kardashian West has her sights set on her next legal battle: the murder conviction levied against New Orleans resident Corey Miller, better known as the rapper C-Murder.
The KUWTK star made the announcement on Sunday afternoon on Twitter, relaying in a series of tweets how she was going to be working with a team of colleagues to determine whether Miller was fairly convicted of the crime, and whether he received an adequate, full defense along the way. He’s been serving a life sentence in the Louisiana State Penitentiary since 2003 when he was convicted of the 2002 murder of a young man named Steve Thomas.

C-Murder has forever maintained his innocence in the matter, and evidence has recently been questioned in the case, including eyewitnesses that have since recanted their testimony, as well as multiple long-standing allegations that jurors on the case were bullied into and pressured into voting guilty.
Furthermore, Miller was only convicted by the 12-person jury on a 10-2 vote; if that same trial were held today, Miller would legally be a free man. As Kim notes in her series of messages about the issue (below), there’s a lot at play here, but it sounds like she’s going to get to the bottom of it with her helpful legal team:
The jury convicted Corey 10-2 and he was sentenced him to life in prison. If his trial was today, the jury would have had to be unanimous for him to be convicted.

The case gets more interesting from there, considering Miller’s longtime ex-girlfriend Monica, the R&B singer, has long been in his corner claiming the rapper is an innocent man in this case. Now, Monica has a very high-profile and powerful ally in KKW, and this thing could begin to move quickly if the legal team is able to find anything they can use to potentially free the longtime performing artist under brother Master P‘s recording label, No Limit Records.

Monica sounded remarkably optimistic about the whole thing in her own new announcement and update about the case just a few hours ago, noting “there’s never been a promise broken and I vowed to seek help” in an emotional Instagram message and post for the world to see (below):

Even C-Murder himself (or somebody posting on his behalf while he remains incarcerated) took to IG to write a note about the potential for being freed.

Writing how “you didn’t deserve what the system was about to do to me,” Miller himself sounded equally optimistic that this could finally be the chance he needs to be free:

C-Murder was a high profile rapper in the late 1990s and early 2000s, right up until his murder conviction and eventual sentence. We’ll see whether Kim’s hard, high-profile work can do anything for him now.
Seems like she may really have her work cut out for her here…
