Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are in mourning after the passing of his father, George Brooksbank.
According to PA, Jack‘s father died last week after a prolonged illness.
Last year, George was put on a ventilator while he battled COVID-19 after a trip to France, and in a speech, Eugenie had thanked the NHS for saving his life.
“The point I really want to get across is that I think the NHS is absolutely magnificent,” George told The Telegraph in his own interview at the time. “The way I was treated was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble and at no point did I get a sense of a shortage of doctors or nurses or any impression that the service was in any way overwhelmed.”
Eugenie wrote on her Instagram afterward, “I can’t begin to express the thanks I have to you all for bringing him back to our family, my husband Jack, his brother Tom and his beloved wife Nicola. We are forever grateful.”
George passed away just days ahead of his grandson, August Brooksbank‘s christening, which occurred over the weekend.
