Woman's Purchase of Mariah Carey's 'Glitter' on September 11 May Have Saved Her Life

A story is going viral on social media amid the anniversary of the September 11 attacks in 2001.

In an interview with Pittsburgh’s WPXI, a woman recalled heading to work at the Twin Towers that morning – and the reason she was late to work is getting a lot of attention.

Sara Botkin had a temporary job at Aon Corporation in New York City, located on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center’s south tower.

Sara was running late that day because she stopped at a store to buy a new CD from Mariah Carey, who had just released Glitter on the same day, which may have saved her life.

“I think it’s got to be luck. So many people said God was watching out for me that day. And I believe in God, but I can’t think that he would be a God that would watch out for all those people who lost their lives. Fathers and daughters and mothers and sons. So, I just think I was really lucky,” she explained.

When the first plane hit, she was still on the concourse, about to get on the elevator.

“When I looked outside it was a stunning scene, it looked New Year’s Eve, just all the debris in the air, papers flying,” she said.

Several celebrities have also recounted their own near-death experiences on September 11.
