Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is unstoppable.
The Marvel movie once again reigned supreme at the box office as of Sunday (September 26).
The film brought in $13.3 million in its fourth weekend at the box office, bringing its tally up to $196.5 million, a pandemic-era record that breaks Marvel‘s own previous record for highest-grossing movie of the year with Black Widow, which brought in $183 million.
Shang-Chi was released on a purse theatrical window, versus the day-and-date strategy used to release Black Widow.
Other box office entries include Dear Evan Hansen, which started at $7.5 million, underneath the $10 million projection.
Simu Liu stars in the movie as Shang-Chi, a young Super Hero whose journey of self-discovery unfolds in this never-before-seen origin story. He recently opened up about about one tweet he tagged Marvel in that may have helped him score the role. Check it out!
