Elton John is recovering.
The 74-year-old music superstar is pushing back his tour dates to 2023 following an injury, he revealed Thursday (September 16) on social media.

In a statement, Elton revealed that he recently “fell awkwardly on a hard surface” at the end of the summer and has “been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.”
“Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving. I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications.”
“”I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain,” he continued, adding that “with great sadness and a heavy heart” he has rescheduled the 2021 dates of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Europe and the U.K. to 2023.
He will still participate in the Global Citizen Live event taking place later this month, explaining: “I don’t want to let a charity down.”
