Instagram has announced they’re launching a new feature for anyone who might be bullied on the app, especially some public figures who might face hate speech from strangers.
The app is launching a new featured called “Limits,” which will automatically hide DM requests and comments from people who do not follow you or from people who just decided to follow you. Instragram also said they will issue “stronger warnings” for people writing hateful text.

“We hope these new features will better protect people from seeing abusive content, whether it’s racist, sexist, homophobic or any other type of abuse,” Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, wrote. “Our research shows that a lot of negativity towards public figures comes from people who don’t actually follow them, or who have only recently followed them, and who simply pile on in the moment.”
One celebrity who has been in the public eye quite a bit recently just responded to those who think she is the one deleting comments made about her.
