Hulu Exec Discusses When 'Handmaid's Tale' Will End, New Viewership Stats for Season 4 Revealed

The fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale ended a couple months ago with an explosive season finale and fans have been wondering how many more season the show will get.

An executive at Hulu is now speaking out to reveal some info about the show’s future.

Jordan Helman, who is the Head of Scripted Originals, told Deadline that the streamer is currently in talks with the show’s team to decide if season five will mark the end of the series.

“The success of The Handmaid’s Tale remains paramount for us,” Jordan said. “That said, what is also most important to us is that we close out that show in creative fashion that feels organic so we are in constant communication, literally right now, talking with Bruce [Miller], Lizzie [Moss] and Warren [Littlefield], about what the best way to end The Handmaid’s Tale is. We haven’t landed on an answer… I imagine we’re going to be able to answer that question in the coming months.”

Hulu has also revealed some impressive viewership data for the fourth season.

  • The Handmaid’s Tale was the most watched series on Hulu every week throughout season four which launched in April. (including Originals and non-Originals).
  • The Handmaid’s Tale season four finale, which debuted on Wednesday, June 16, was the most watched episode of any series on Hulu on premiere day.
  • The Handmaid’s Tale has grown in viewership season over season, every season, with season three to season four viewership up 32%.
