According to the article, Denis shared that Zendaya‘s character Chani would be telling the story in the possible second movie.
“I can’t wait to shoot the second part of Dune to get [Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya] back together,” Denis shared. “Knowing that in the next chapter Zendaya will be the protagonist of the story.”
Chani is a member of the Fremen and daughter of Liet Kynes, the imperial ecologist and planetologist of Arrakis. The character forms a close bond with the leader of the Fremen, Stilgar (Javier Bardem).
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides (Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.
As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
The film will hit theaters and HBO Max on October 22. See the latest poster here!
