“I was sitting at my desk, which at the time as an unemployed comedian was just my bed. I got an email. The character description was for a 25-year-old bisexual comedy writer who had recently lost her job… and I’m going… is it there? Can I find it?” Hannah jokingly said.

While talking about the audition process, which happened in the middle of the pandemic, she said, “The callback was over Zoom and then we did a screentest, Jean and I. I was terrified because Jean Smart is a god and I’m a mere mortal. She called me the night before and she just said, ‘I saw your set on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and I think you’re great.’”

Right before the pandemic, Hannah did a comedy set on The Late Show, but it was pre-taped she she never got the chance to meet Stephen until now!

Here’s what Hannah previously said about the huge cliffhanger at the end of Hacks season one.
