Courtney Love Pays Tribute to Britney Spears with Emotional Cover of 'Lucky'

Courtney Love is showing her support for Britney Spears.

The Hole singer spoke with the New Yorker for Ronan Farrow and Jia Tolentino‘s bombshell expose on Britney‘s conservatorship, which was published Saturday morning (July 3).

In the interview, Courtney discussed Britney‘s ex-manager Sam Lufti and her business manager Lou Taylor. She followed up the interview with a cover of Britney‘s 2000 hit “Lucky.”

Courtney referred to Sam as a “street hustler” in the article and accused Lou Taylor, who has ties with Britney‘s father, Jamie, of trying to put her in a conservatorship as well.

Lou Taylor‘s lawyer has denied her claims, telling the outlet, “At no time did Ms. Taylor ever make any effort to put anyone into a conservatorship. Not Britney Spears. Not Lindsay Lohan. Not Courtney Love.”

The Live Through This musician congratulated Ronan and Jia on Twitter, writing, “An honour to speak to an honourable man. Speak again soon.”

Later Saturday night, Courtney shared a video of herself performing an emotional rendition of “Lucky” to Instagram.

“Someone asked me what song I was going to cover next. I don’t have a guitar player handy, so yeah,” she says at the start of the video. “It’s written by one of those fantastic old Swedish people – gentleman – and it’s got like B-sharp 7th. I don’t know that s–t. OK, let’s just try it.”

She grew emotional towards the end of the cover, telling the camera, “I’m actually crying. I f—in’ hate this when it happens to me.”
