The 2021 Cannes Film Festival is not entirely COVID-free, but the numbers are low.
The annual film festival, which has returned in 2021 and is providing testing amid the pandemic, is averaging three coronavirus cases per day, via Deadline on Friday (July 9).

According to the report, the festival is averaging three cases per day amid thousands of attendees tested daily via BioGroup testing center.
Non-vaccinated participants have to show a negative test from less than 48 hours to access parts of the festival, including the Palais. Some events require fully-vaccinated status. The testing requirement also applies to vaccinated people arriving from non-European countries, including the United States.
Anybody who tests positive is mandated by the French government to self-isolate for a week.
“It is not known how strictly the policy is enforced but at the very least delegates would not be able to access key parts of the festival, and would carry the ethical burden of spreading the virus,” Deadline noted.
