Thomas, 76, revealed that he found out about Lilibet‘s arrival from the radio.
“No phone calls,” the former Hollywood lighting director stated. “I just heard it on the radio.”
Thomas did make a note on her name, which honors both her late grandmother, Princess Diana, and great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
“Lili is a perfect name,” he shared, adding, “and the other thing that makes me happy is now there’s a lot more Markle blood in the royal family. All I can say is I hope I get to eventually, sometime see these grandchildren of mine because I’m a pretty good grandpa.”
Thomas has been estranged from Meghan, and her husband, Prince Harry, for quite some time.
The last remote connection they had was when he made a trip up to Oprah Winfrey‘s home in California from Mexico to deliver a personal note ahead of Meghan and Harry‘s tell-all interview with her. Find out more about that here…
If you missed it, see how Lilibet‘s aunt, Kate Middleton, reacted to the notion of meeting the baby.
