Prince Harry gave a rare interview during a sit down with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman on their “Armchair Expert” podcast.
On the podcast, the 36-year-old former senior royal told a story he has never told before about when he first started dating Meghan Markle.
First, he said growing up the way he grew up he felt, “A mix between ‘The Truman Show’ and being in a zoo,” noting the constant attention. He then told a story about the now-Duchess.

“The first time that Meghan and I met up for her to come and stay with me, we met up in a supermarket in London, pretending that we didn’t know each other, so (we were) texting each other from the other side of the aisles,” he said on the podcast. “There were people looking at me, giving me all these weird looks, and coming up and saying, ‘Hi,’ or whatever. I texted her saying, ‘Is this the right one?’ And she said, ‘No, you want parchment paper,’ and I’m like, ‘Where’s the parchment paper?’ So, it was nice. I had a baseball cap on, looking down at the floor, don’t know how many times you’ve done that when walking down the street trying to stay incognito. It’s like, ‘Whoa, signpost! Oh, someone’s dog!’ It’s amazing how much chewing gum you see. … It’s a mess.”
