We are very sad to report that Anne Douglas has died at the age of 102, according to THR.
Douglas was a film publicist who married actor Kirk Douglas in 1954 and they were together until his death last year at the age of 103.
Anne and Kirk had two children together, sons Peter and Eric, who were born in 1955 and 1958, respectively. He also had two children from his previous marriage to Diana Dill, sons Michael and Joel.
One of the most famous stories involving Kirk and Anne was when she refused to allow him to fly on a private plane from Palm Springs to New York with director Michael Todd back in 1958. He was reportedly furious and said he wasn’t going on the trip if he couldn’t fly on the plane. While driving back to Los Angeles together, they heard on the radio that the plane crashed and everyone on board had died.
Anne wrote in their book, “I don’t know what came over me, but I had a strange feeling. Absolutely not, Kirk. I don’t want you on that plane. You can fly commercial and meet him there.”
Kirk told Anne after they heard the news, “Darling, you saved my life. I will always trust your intuition from now on.”
We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to Anne‘s loved ones during this difficult time.
