The couple just released a statement on Saturday (March 13), just one day after many sources confirmed that they had called off their engagement after four years together.

“We are working through some things,” Jennifer, 51, and Alex, 45, told People in the statement.

A source spoke to the outlet to explain what’s going on in their relationship right now.

“They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up,” a source told People.

A lot of people speculated that Alex‘s rumored affair with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy was the reason for the split. The source says that the rumors “had no bearing on the rough patch at all.”

The source added, “She’s working in the Dominican Republic and he’s in Miami so it’s tough seeing each other especially with quarantining and COVID, but they want to try to stay together.”

Just hours before the breakup news was reported, JLo shared a screencap from a FaceTime call with one of her exes.

Jennifer and Alex started dating in 2017 and they got engaged in 2019. Their wedding was postponed twice because of the pandemic and here’s everything they’ve said about it.
