Morgan Wallen is facing some serious consequences for using a racial slur.
The Academy of Country Music announced in a statement that they will “halt” the 27-year-old country singer’s “involvement and eligibility” at the upcoming 2021 ACM Awards after a video surfaced of him using the N-word. You can read Morgan‘s apology here.
“The Academy of Country Music will halt Morgan’s potential involvement and eligibility for this year’s 56th Academy of Country Music Awards cycle,” the statement posted to Twitter reads. “We have made his management aware of this decision. The Academy does not condone or support intolerance or behavior that doesn’t align with our commitment and dedication to diversity and inclusion.”

If you didn’t see, in the video that surfaced, Morgan is overheard using the N-word to describe one of his drunk friends after they arrive back at his Nashville house after a night out.
“In the coming weeks, the Academy will expedite the offering of long-planned diversity training resources for our ACM Membership, Board, Staff, and the Country Music artist community, made available through our Diversity+ Inclusion Task Force established in 2018,” the statement continued. “As a result of this unprecedented situation, the Academy will be reviewing our awards eligibility and submissions process, ensuring our nominees consistently reflected the Academy’s integrity.”
Morgan was likely to receive major nominations at the 2021 ACM Awards after the success of his latest album Dangerous: The Double Album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last month.
Many fellow country music stars are slamming Morgan for his actions.
The 2021 ACM Awards is scheduled to air on April 18.
