Lizzo is opening up about how she practices self-love.
The “Juice” singer uploaded a video on Tuesday (February 3) where she recites positive affirmations to herself in front of a mirror as a way of showing gratitude to her body.
“I love you so much,” Lizzo said while rubbing her stomach. “Thank you so much for keeping me happy, for keeping me alive. Thank you.”
She blew a few kisses to her belly and added, “I’m gonna continue to listen to you. You deserve all the space in the world to breathe, to expand and contract, to give me life.”
In the caption, the three-time Grammy winner opened up about learning to accept her body.
“I started talking to my belly this year. Blowing her kisses and showering her with praises,” she wrote. “I used to want to cut my stomach off I hated it so much. But it’s literally ME.”
Some of Lizzo‘s famous followers voiced their support in the comment section. Broad City actress Ilana Glazer wrote, “power power powerful phenomenon.” Supermodel Ashley Graham commented, “affirmations babyyyyyy.”
Lizzo faced controversy last year when she participated in a 10-day smoothie detox, which some saw as promoting diet culture. She responded to the criticism in a video posted to TikTok.
