Rosario Dawson has to thank her fans for helping in her getting the role of Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian.
In her interview with Vanity Fair, the 41-year-old actress shared that the role came to her after the show’s crew noticed them campaigning for her to play the character on the Disney+ series.
“It first came from fans online,” she shared. “Someone tweeted me and fancast me. I retweeted back and I was like, ‘Absolutely, yes please’ and ‘#AhsokaLives.’ And apparently that got the attention of someone who has been doing the Star Wars press for years.”
Rosario added that it was then “forwarded it to Dave Filoni. That kind of started a whole thing. I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, did I just get fancast in something?’ And then nothing happened.”
While it took a while for producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni to call her up, the casting became clear once Rosario and Dave met face to face.
“When I met Rosario, I just knew she was right for Ahsoka,” he said in the same interview. “Yes there was the tweet, and her interest in the part, yes she has been in action movies and is a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy stories, yes, she knew Hayden Christensen and pictures of them together look like Anakin and Ahsoka. But in the end, when I met her and we talked, I just knew.”
Rosario made her debut as the fan favorite character, who was first introduced in Clone Wars and Rebels, in the recent episode.
In the episode, Ahsoka revealed something very important about Baby Yoda, aka, The Child. See what it was here…
