Chances are we've all watched the original Jurassic Park movie and never spotted this major movie mistake. But now that one Reddit user has brought it to our attention, 27 years later, it's all we can see.
Reddit user Unicorn-Shaman highlighted an epic fail in the famous kitchen scene, where young stars Lex (played by Ariana Richards) and Tim (Joseph Mazzello) are being chased down by the Velociraptor.
"In Jurassic Park (1993), there is a scene where the raptor opens the door to the kitchen and you can spot an operator grab the raptor's tail," they wrote on the forum.
Take a closer look and you'll see the hand of a production operator holding on to the raptor's tail, before gently pushing the animatronic dinosaur into the kitchen.
The forum lit up with at least 800 comments of shock and disbelief.
"I've watched this so many times growing up and still to this day if it's on television. Never noticed," one user commented, while another wrote, "It's crazy how much information our brains ignore."
One user said that the kitchen scene from the 1993 movie is arguably "one of the most iconic scenes in cinema", thanks to the score provided by conductor and composer John Williams.
"Williams' soundtrack with the extended notes and the intensity of the scene can't be matched. And OP just obliterated it," they said.
The Steven Spielberg-directed movie, which starred Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, has grossed a massive US$1.033 billion (approx. $1.5 billion) in the box office since its release in 1993. The trio is set to return for another instalment in the franchise. Jurassic World: Dominion, which resumed shooting last month in the UK following coronavirus lockdowns.
"I think we're the first big film to get back into production and it's going to be very interesting to see the process," Neill said last month on ITV breakfast show This Morning. "I'm very excited about it. It's going to be a terrific film. I'm so much looking forward to meeting my old friends again."
